Face 2 Face

There is something quietly radical about choosing to be present, to meet one another face to face. In a world shaped by distance, speed, and constant distraction, sharing the same physical space becomes an act of attention, care, and openness.
I’m deeply grateful to be part of FACE 2 FACE, a group exhibition curated by Calum Hall founder of Creative Debuts. This exhibition will be centered on human connection, vulnerability, and presence. I feel especially honoured that my portrait inspired by Maya Angelou was selected for this show, as her life and work is still so relevant to me, and I think speak directly to these themes. This work is about freedom, emotional truth, and the courage it takes to open ourselves, to allow ourselves to be seen, and to witness others with compassion. It reflects the quiet power that emerges when we share what lives within us, without layers of protection.
This painting is an invitation: to slow down, to look again, and to meet one another with honesty. Alongside my piece, the artists in this exhibition explore portraiture as a space of presence, works that ask us to meet another gaze and engage in genuine emotional exchange. Some encounters, with art and with each other, can only happen when we are fully here.
